Founded in 1976 by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is the oldest university in the UAE. It is a comprehensive research-intensive university, currently enrolling approximately 13,000 students from the UAE and around the world. Its state-of-the-art new campus is built over 120 hectares, covering a net serviceable area of 282,815 m2 of newly built facilities and 72,000 m2 of existing facilities. It includes female residential accommodation for 2,500 students, male and female academic precincts housing the various departments from Humanities to Engineering, a male and female village, and sports facilities including 2 Olympic-size swimming pools, shared laboratory facilities, and an iconic administration building encompassing the university’s ceremonial hall and library.
