The Intelligent BIM Execution Plan

Course Description

In today's construction and design industry, the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) is no longer just a project requirement, in fact, it is a strategic document that defines how information is created, shared, and managed across the entire project lifecycle.

This course has been updated to reflect where the industry is now heading: the integration of Artificial Intelligence into BIM workflows. AI is actively being used to accelerate BEP drafting in certain aspects such as, check document compliance against BIM standards, generate naming conventions, predict contract risks, and automate review cycles. Professionals who understand how to work alongside these tools are already gaining a competitive edge.

Building on the foundations of 5D BIM and ISO 19650, this course walks participants through every major section of a BEP from various perspectives, and at each stage, introduces practical AI tools that can be applied immediately. All AI tools recommended on this course are free to use.

At the end of this workshop, participants will not only understand how to build and contribute to the BEP, but they will also know how to use AI to do it faster, more accurately, and in alignment with the standards that govern their projects.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

Upon completing this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the role of the BEP, within the BIM standard framework, specifically ISO 19650
  • Pre-BEP vs. Post-BEP: Purpose, Layout, and Responsibility
  • Identify and articulate the various sections of a BEP and their purpose
  • Use AI tools to draft, structure, and refine the BEP content from a project brief to use as a reference
  • Run AI-Assisted compliance checks to validate a BEP against an Employer Information Requirement (EIR) and BIM Standards, in this case ISO 19650
  • Generate and Validate file naming conventions
  • Perform a hands-on AI lab exercise: draft, check, and present a cost-focused BEP section from a case study
