MATAR Major Projects Department appointed DG Jones and Partners as Executive Construction Consultants on the State of Qatar’s Hamad International Airport Expansion Programme. The aim of this expansion is to increase the airport’s passenger capacity from 27million passengers/ year to 53million, with works completed by October 2022, in time for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The programme includes delivering additional taxiways and stands, fuel farms, an expansion to the existing passenger terminal complex with an integral tropical garden for passengers, updated special systems throughout, together with an enlarged baggage handling system within its own bespoke building, 2 additional passenger lounges, new retail concourses, and a major cargo terminal complex.
