Located in Muharraq Governorate - Busiteen area, the King Hamad University Hospital – KHUH is a medical city built on a 64,000m2 land, committed to providing optimal patient care through team-based clinical practice. Equipped with the latest technologies and equipment, it consists of three main buildings:

  • The main Hospital building: was established as part of a medical strategy, to develop a Centre for organ transplant surgeries and trauma in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Using state-of-the-art medical technology and the most sophisticated information systems, it uses innovative methods to eliminate red tape and bureaucracy and support sound diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.
  • The Cyclotron Building: Works consist of a 1,400m2 gross floor area constructed on the site of the current university hospital. The building includes a concrete reinforced bunker and associated areas.
  • The Oncology Center: it sits above a car park podium level. The podium is a 2-level structure approximately 27,000m2 in size.
The main hospital buildings are designed in a 4-story configuration, mainly over the podium, and measure 30,500 m2 approximately.
The KHUH accommodates around 410 beds, nine (9) operating rooms, nine (9) wards, two (2) intensive care units with twenty-six (26) beds for adults and a neonatal intensive care unit (includes 34 nurseries), and the emergency department - which includes 42 beds, in addition to 12 A suite for admitted patients, a day-case ward, physiotherapy, and hydrotherapy unit, a hyperbaric therapy unit, and an outpatient department.
