DG Jones and Partners were appointed by Matar Major Projects Department as Executive Construction Consultants on the State of Qatar’s Hamad International Airport Expansion Programme. The aim of this expansion is to increase the airport’s passenger capacity from 27 million passengers per annum to 53 million, with the works completing in October 2022, in time for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The programme is delivering additional taxiways and stands, fuel farms, an expansion to the existing passenger terminal complex with an integral tropical garden for passengers, updated special systems throughout, together with an enlarged baggage handling system within its own bespoke building, 2 additional passenger lounges and new retail concourses.
The programme commenced in June 2019 and the role of DG Jones and Partners is to provide Executive Quantity Surveying services direct to Matar and to also oversee the management of valuations, monthly cost reports and final account variations on behalf of Matar. We also are on-call to provide contractual and financial advice as required across the programme.
Our staffing compliment is 34 persons dealing with 30 projects within the overall programme. The Contractors are working 7 days per week and shifts are proceeding daily across a 24-hour timeline. There are project managers, designer and stakeholder inputs being managed in close co-ordination with the Client’s program management staff.
