Global Spotlight on Dispute Resolution: Insights from CIArb's Cyprus Conference

CIArb Conference – June 2023

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Cyprus Branch recently hosted a thought-provoking conference dedicated to Dispute Resolution in International Construction Contracts. The event took place at the Amathus Beach Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus on June 15 and 16, 2023.

Nicos Elia, Chairman of the CIArb Cyprus branch, inaugurated the event with a welcoming address. The conference was also privileged to have Alexis Vafeades, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, and Ben Rawlings, representing the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, delivering the opening speeches.

As Platinum Sponsors, DG Jones and Partners played an instrumental role in the success of this conference. In addition to assisting the CIArb Cyprus branch with conference preparation and venue logistics, we were also actively involved in the insightful panel discussions that took place over the two-day conference.

The first day of the conference, June 15, was filled with engaging sessions facilitated by industry experts. DG Jones and Partners' contributions were particularly noteworthy. Joseph S. Psaroulla, our Chairman, enriched the sixth session as a panelist, while Michel H. Salem, a distinguished Board Member, lent his expertise to the discussions in the first session.

Our involvement in the conference not only enhanced DG Jones and Partners' visibility within the Cypriot construction industry but also allowed us to forge stronger ties with key industry players such as the CIArb Cyprus and the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK).

Reflecting on the event, it's clear that the conference was a significant success and a testament to the power of collaboration and shared expertise. We look forward to furthering our engagement in such industry-leading initiatives, contributing our knowledge and experiences, and continuing to influence the development of dispute resolution within international construction contracts.
